How to remove yourself from Intelius

How to opt out of Intelius
- 1
Open the Intelius Privacy Center at https://app.intelius.com/privacy-center/ and click "Manage My Suppression Rules" under Public Data Tools. This opens the PeopleConnect Suppression Center at https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/?brand=Intelius (intelius.com/opt-out forwards there too).
- 2
Enter your email address, agree to the terms and click the verification link that PeopleConnect emails you.
- 3
On the Identity page, add your current and past names, the addresses where you have lived, and the phone numbers and email addresses you use or have used.
- 4
Enter your date of birth carefully: the tool needs it to find your report, and you cannot change it once saved.
- 5
Click "Begin Verification" next to a phone number or email address that appears in your report and enter the code you receive by text or email.
- 6
Open the Suppression Setting page, set each report under Verified Matches that is yours to "Suppressed" and click "Save".
- 7
If your report shows up only under Unverified Matches, verify more of the phone numbers or email addresses it lists. If that still fails, contact PeopleConnect customer care, which says it will try to verify you another way.
One suppression in the PeopleConnect Suppression Center applies to name searches on all PeopleConnect people search sites, which PeopleConnect names as TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius and US Search; it does not cover Classmates.com. Intelius, LLC also lists ZabaSearch, Addresses.com, PeopleFinder.com, PeopleLookup.com, ReversePhoneLookup.com, PublicRecords.com and other domains in the California registry. PeopleConnect doesn't say whether the suppression covers those, so search them separately.
If the opt-out does not work
- Email privacy@intelius.com; the Intelius Privacy Center gives this address for public data that still shows after you suppress your report.
- Call Intelius at (888) 245-1655, Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm Pacific, the privacy contact number in its privacy policy.
- Email privacy@peopleconnect.us, the privacy contact of PeopleConnect, which runs the Suppression Center.
Not just Intelius
We find your listings on dozens of sites and remove them for you.
Tips
- Verify every phone number and email you can still receive messages on: a report only counts as a verified match if it contains something you verified.
- Keep your Suppression Center profile afterwards. PeopleConnect says you must keep your user information on file there for the suppression to stay in place.
- Suppression covers name searches only. Intelius says your details can still appear in phone, address or email reports, so run those searches on Intelius afterwards and email privacy@intelius.com about anything that still shows.
- If you live in Washington and have a Washington cell number, the Intelius privacy policy offers a free check and removal of that number by phone at (888) 245-1655.
Questions about Intelius
Is it free to remove myself from Intelius?
Yes. The Intelius Privacy Center says the Suppression Center is free and you don't need to be a subscriber.
Does removing myself from Intelius also cover US Search?
For name searches, yes. US Search is run by Intelius, LLC (the California registry lists it as one of its business names), and PeopleConnect names USSearch.com among the sites that one suppression covers. US Search's own contact address is support@ussearch.com.
Why does Intelius ask for my date of birth and a phone number or email?
Intelius says it uses your date of birth to find the right report because many people share names, and a code sent to a phone or email in the report to confirm the report is about you. It says this information is used only for that purpose and is not added to its reports.
Will deleting my Intelius account or user data remove my report?
No. The "Delete My User Data" option in the Intelius Privacy Center covers data from your own use of the site. Intelius says it does not stop other people from finding your public data; to hide your background report you need a suppression request.

Sites that share an owner often share a database. Check each one; sometimes one request covers all of them.
